Nityanandam Ayurveda Rare information of Ayurveda Greetings (Namaskaram)! A few days back, I had shared a few videos on Insomnia. In a program, I had shared with you, how to practice Pranayam, how to manage your lifestyle, so as to get relief from the problem of Insomnia. Despite that, I still keep getting a huge amount, of comments, posts, and your letters I am receiving, where you are often asking me, for some Ayurvedic solution for overcoming Insomnia, because we are not able to follow, due to lack of willpower, what you have earlier shared in this context. We are unable to follow those. If we could get some solution, that will be very helpful. Come, let me give you some Ayurvedic solution, a few tips, on how to overcome your Insomnia problem. I must, however, tell you something, that if you have clicked this video, and you are determined to know how to get better sleep, and what you could do in Ayurveda, then I must tell all of you, something- that the experiment that I am going to tell you, firstly, that it gives a complete result, it is excellent. The result is so amazing, that in 25 days, even if you have had sleeplessness issues for about 20 years, how in 25 days you will be able to get proper sleep. But, this is not an easy task to do. It is a little difficult. It is important that you listen carefully, and you should not be selective in its application, or make your own changes to it. You have to follow it exactly the way I am explaining, only then it will benefit you. What is to be done? You have to follow four things. All four have to be followed. Let me tell you the first thing to do. In the morning and evening, when there is a cool breeze, when there is no sun, when there is a high concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere, then you have to practice Anulom Vilom Pranayam. I will not tell you again about this, I have shared in my earlier videos. You have to take in deep breaths, not short breaths, you have to practice Anulom Vilom with deep breaths. If you are unable to give more time, then at least, practice it for 20 minutes in the morning, and 20 minutes in the evening. This has to be done. Without this, unless the oxygen in your body doesn’t go up, your brain won’t get enough oxygen, it won’t go into rest mode. However, after sunset, one should not take long deep breaths. If you do so, then the brain will become overactive, which may cause the brain to remain awake all night. Hence in the morning and evening, around sunrise and sunset, practice Anulom Vilom at that time. You may practice whichever Pranayam, can even take deep breaths, but in the evening, you should not take deep breaths. Practice only Anulom Vilom Pranayam, rest you may practice Kapalbhati, if your body needs this. But Anulom Vilom has to be done for 20 minutes. This was the first thing. Secondly, you have to take 4 Almond kernels, and half a kernel of Walnut. Soak these overnight in a glass tumbler. Take a small glass. You have to soak it in that glass. Keep it covered. In the morning, after drinking the water and clearing the bowels, peel these kernels, of both the almonds and half a kernel of a walnut. Keep the peel aside, as much as possible. Take a mortar and pestle. What are a mortar and pestle? You may have seen a big stone pounder, and there is a wooden hand tool for pounding. You need not take an iron pounder, nor steel or plastic, etc vessel should not be taken. Some people, later start asking, if they can use in such and such manner, or maybe use a grinder? Absolutely not, buddy! This video will stretch far too long if I start discussing, as to why not to use an electric grinder. There are a few basic rules in Ayurveda. You have to do ‘Mardan’ (rubbing), and not to shake it. You have to rub it well. To be able to do that, two objects are needed to crush this. I must tell you that in Ayurveda, as much an ingredient is crushed, that increases its intrinsic quality. You have to put these kernels in a mortar and pestle in the morning, and you have to add 2-4 teaspoons milk. Cow milk is most preferable. If, however, you are unable to get cow milk, you may use the buffalo milk that you use. There is nothing like cow milk. Cow milk or buffalo milk, if one has boiled it already, and is hot and fresh, then add the hot milk. If after boiling, it has cooled down slightly, it has become fresh, then add this milk. But remember not to add milk taken out from a refrigerator. In any season, round the year, you should not use cold milk taken from the refrigerator. If it cools at the counter-top on its own, that can be taken. You have to first add 2-3 drops of milk. You have to start pounding it along with the milk, you have to pound it till it becomes like sauce. You have to continuously crush that sauce. After a minute or so of pounding, you have to add some more milk. You have to add about one bowl, or one cup of milk to the preparation. As much as you can drink. You have to pound it really well, You have to do so for about 10-15 minutes. It could be pounded for longer though. But do not pound for any lesser time. If you pound for a lesser time, then it will not do you as much benefit. Some people will ask me, I am sure, hence let me tell you beforehand, They may ask, how about they eat the kernels along with it? They will also get crushed. That will not have any effect. Later on, you will blame me, that it did not benefit you. There are some protocols for some things in Ayurveda, which gives appropriate benefits, when followed. If you chew it and have it, it will benefit you in some other way, but will not help you with sleep disorders. You have to make a solution after pounding it, just like ‘Thandai’ (Indian cold drink). You have to sip and drink. If you wish, then you may add melon seeds, to this preparation. How much? About one teaspoon. If you have soaked it overnight with the skin, then in the morning, you should remove the skin, and pound it. If, however, you missed soaking it the previous night, or you find it tedious to soak it, then you can take the melon seeds, one teaspoon deskinned melon seeds, and add it to the preparation. This will increase the potency of the milk. It has to be pounded for about 10-12 minutes, and has to be taken sip by sip. This has to be taken on an empty stomach. If you miss taking it on an empty stomach for any reason, then have it 1.5 to 2 hours after your breakfast. This has to be taken in the morning. However, if the problem is grave, then you may also soak the kernels in the morning, and have the preparation in the evening. Even if you take this once a day, then that is also enough. This was the second experiment. This is mandatory. I will tell you about the third experiment. Every day, in the morning, on an empty stomach, you have to take 2-3 teaspoons of raw fresh milk… if you have forgotten to order raw milk, someday, cow milk will be okay, so as buffalo milk, you have to lie down on your bed, you have to suspend your head, and with the help of a spoon or dropper, in any which way, have to instill drops in this manner, slowly in the nostrils. Then you have to breathe in deep while lying down, with the head suspended. This has to be repeated in the other nostril also. In this manner over the first few days, you have to drink about 2-4 teaspoons of milk in your nostrils. First day you will have 1 teaspoon, the second day have 2 teaspoons, which will continue like this for a few days. In the next 10-15 days, reach up to 1 bowl milk. You may find it very difficult, having doubts that it may not reach your brain, or any other doubt. Nothing of this sort will happen. This will reach your throat directly. When you feel it in your throat, just swallow it. You have to suck as well, and have to pull it in. It helps the milk go within. This is important, without which you cannot get well. Do whatever. Although in Ayurveda, there are medicines to induce sleep, but if you take them long term, they prove harmful. It is important to do the 2-3 things that I told you about. The fourth solution is, before going to bed at night, you have to take fresh milk… Fresh milk means the one you get in the morning, you have to mildly heat it, cold milk will not work. With this lukewarm milk, you have to take 2 tablets Brahmi Vati. You can get Brahmi Vati from an Ayurvedic store. 2 tablets Brahmi Vati, with a cup of lukewarm milk… If you are taking it in winters, then add a little Almond Oil (Badam Rogan oil), How much? 0.5 to 1 teaspoon. If someone’s body is warm, he can add half a teaspoon, if someone has a cooler body type, it can easily digest warm foods, then you may add 1 teaspoon of almond oil, and drink it. I although, forgot to tell you something, that I wanted to share. Before drinking this and 1/2 hour to 1 hour later, like you had milk in the morning, you have to, instill almond oil (Badam Rogan oil) in your nostrils. Instilling almond oil is even more beneficial than adding it to milk and drinking it. Whether you add it to the milk or not, it doesn’t make any difference. At night, you should instill 5-6 drops of almond oil, in both your nostrils. Suck it in the same manner. These 4-5 solutions that I have shared with you, if you follow these… A lot of patients have recovered, who were on sleeping pills for about 20 years, and have discontinued the sleeping pills. Many people have remained off the sleeping pills for quite some time. I made them follow this for 25 days, then gave them a break of 10 days. If someone had a chronic issue, I made them follow this for 60 days, and gave them a break for one month. 2-3 rounds have to be exercised. Take for a month, then rest for 10 days. Again take for 10 days and rest for another 10 days. The objective of resting for 10 days is, to provide the system some rest. If, however, you wish to take it on an ongoing basis, then you can take it so for 6 months also. If you have a chronic problem, if you religiously follow this for 2-4 months, if you wish to give a break, you may. If not, still no hassles. If you follow this then your sleeplessness issue… After this video, you will yourself feel, that your complaint of sleep disorder, will persist, despite trying this remedy. This won’t be so. This is very powerful. I will give you a tip while signing off, is that most people spend a lot of time watching TV at night. They become very active at night, such that those things keep playing in your brain. Do whatever in the morning and daytime, at night, do not do any heavy work, nor watch much of television, or read newspapers. If you wish to do some light reading for knowledge, you may. Observe your breath for some time before sleeping, your incoming and outgoing breath. Just by following these things, you start feeling drowsy. However, before signing off, let me caution you, that this remedy will not right away, show results in 5-6 days time. That is why do not start judging within 5-6 days, that it has not helped you. You have to wait for at least 8 days. Only then you will begin to see some improvement. Gradually on the 10th,12th, or 15th day, when you would have tried this for a month, you will find that 60-70% of your problem, would have been resolved with this. For the rest of your problem, wait for 10-15 days and restart it for a month again. When you follow in this manner, you will find that you are able to sleep better. That is all for now.
